Effect of real-time ultrasound imaging for biofeedback on trunk muscle contraction in healthy subjects: a preliminary study

چکیده

Abstract Background Real-time ultrasound imaging (RUSI) has been increasingly used as a form of biofeedback when instructing and re-training muscle contraction. However, the effectiveness RUSI on single sustained contraction lumbar multifidus (LM) transversus abdominis (TrA) rarely reported. This preliminary study aimed to determine if use RUSI, visual biofeedback, could enhance ability activation continuous trunk muscles including LM TrA. Methods Forty healthy individuals were included randomly assigned into experimental group control group. All subjects performed preferential and/or TrA (maintained constraction for 30 s then relaxed 2 min), while those in also received feedback provided by RUSI. The thickness at rest during (T c-max , T 15s 30s ) extracted recorded. experiment was repeated three times. Results No significant differences found ( P > 0.999), (P = 0.414) between two groups. recruit differed groups 0.006), with that maintaining relative maximum Besides, no 0.999) 0.031) 0.010) Abdominal Drawing-in Maneuver (ADIM), greater Conclusions can be provide which promote contraction, improve activate subjects.

Real-time visualization of muscle stiffness distribution with ultrasound shear wave imaging during muscle contraction.

A stand-alone ultrasound shear wave imaging technology has been developed to quantify and visualize Young's modulus distribution by remotely applying ultrasound radiation force and tracking the resulting microvibrations in soft tissues with ultrafast ultrasound imaging. We report the first preliminary data that detected the distribution of local muscle stiffness within and between resting and c...

Simulation of a Neutron Detector for Real Time Imaging Applications

Monte Carlo Method is used to simulate a double layer gadolinium-amorphous silicon thermal neutron detector. The detector fabricated in pixel array configuration has various applications including neutron imaging. According to the simulation results, a detector consisting of a gadolinium (Gd) film with thickness of 2-4 ~m, sandwiched properly with two layers of sufficiently thick (-30 ?µm) hydr...

Effect of trunk-muscle fatigue and lactic acid accumulation on balance in healthy subjects.

OBJECTIVE This study sought to determine the effects of trunk-muscle fatigue and blood lactic acid elevation on static and dynamic balance. INTERVENTION Fatigue was induced by an isokinetic protocol, and static and dynamic balance were assessed during bilateral stance using a Kinesthetic Ability Trainer. Subjects participated in a fatigue protocol in which continuous concentric movements at 6...
